Well, Bryan was sure to remember to wish me a happy new year!  Last night at midnight, I was sitting at my computer reading wedding stuff when the new year rolled around.  I heard fireworks and horns and all the usual ruckus but I also heard my car starting!  Our driveway is a governor's driveway so my car is right below the computer room window.  I jumped up and looked outside and, sure enough, my headlights and tailllights were on and the car was running!!!!  No one was anywhere near it, so I knew it was Bryan!  I ran in to tell Mike, but he was sleeping and really didn't understand what I was saying.  It was pouring down rain and I didn't want to go outside, so I went to my purse and retrieved my remote start.  By pushing both buttons, I was able to turn off the car.  Wow!!!  What a wonderful sign from Bryan to let me know he was there with me for the new year.  Absolutely amazing!!!  Happy New Year one and all from all of us AND Bryan!!!

Note:  I know there are some of you out there saying, sure, it could have just been someone else's remote starting the car.  True, but that has never happened before in the 30 years we've lived here and IT WAS MIDNIGHT ON NEW YEAR'S EVE!  So even you skeptics -- and I'm not naming any names, Andy ;-) -- have to admit that is one heck of a coincidence!!

Tuesday, January 9

Today is the three year anniversay of Bryan's passing.  We wanted to make it a happy day, not a sad one, so we scheduled our tasting for the wedding entrees this afternoon.  Brendan and Amberly, Mike and I, and my mom went to the Omni for the event.  It was really wonderful ... the food was delicious and we got to sample all of our selections.  We had chosen beef tenderloin, chicken with lump crab stuffing, and tilapia done in the chef's choice of ways.  After we sampled all three, we noticed another covered dish on the cart.  When Christine (our wedding coordinator) asked about it, it turned out the chef had made a SECOND tilapia recipe for us to try.  When we uncovered the dish, we immediately noticed that the fish was garnished with parsley sprigs that looked just like shamrocks!  Before we even tasted it, we just knew it would be the one we would want.  And when we DID taste it, it was unbelievably delicious.  I changed my dinner selection right then and there!  We felt strongly that Bryan had a hand in that dish!  Here is a photo of it:

Tonight when we got home, Mike noticed that the lights inside my car were on.  I went out and tried to get them to turn off, but they wouldn't.  Normally they go off 30 seconds after I get out of the car, but the timer wasn't working for some reason.  Brendan came out and tried to figure it out to no avail.  I walked around the entire car making sure all the windows and doors were shut tight even though the "door open" light wasn't on.  When I couldn't find any reason for the lights to be staying on, I just turned all of the switches to the off position so there would be no lights at all and we gave up on it and went inside.  I thought it might be Bryan messing with me as he has done this before. Well, it must have been him because when I went out to leave the next morning, as I pulled out of my driveway, I noticed that the tailgate window was wide open!  Not just cracked open but completely up in the air!  There is NO WAY this could have been open from last night because I specifically checked the window when I walked around the car.  Plus I always have a light on the dash that says "liftgate ajar" telling me that it is open.  The light was definitely not on and the window was shut.  Now it was wide open!  OK, Bryan, we get it!  He just wanted to let us know he was around us today and I find that very comforting.

Monday, January 15

Yesterday Amberly went to meet with Michelle, a friend of mine who does professional makeup for weddings.   The makeup came out absolutely beautiful and Bryan let us know today that he was very aware of where Amberly was yesterday.  In my morning's email was one with the single word in the subject "Michelle" ... talk about timing!  Just his way of letting us know he sees what's going on in our lives.  I just love it!

Note:  If you have a story or experience with Bryan, please email it to me and I will add it to his journal.  These incidents have given our family great peace and joy in knowing that Bryan is still with us, if only in spirit, and will live forever in our hearts.
