In Loving Memory of Bryan Raymond Burch

Bryan’s Journal of Miracles
As told by his mom …

Eternal Flame Bryan R. Burch Eternal Flame

March 17, 1980 - January 9, 2004

This page is to document the many "signs" and "visits" that Bryan has made to us since his passing ... miracles to those of us who have received them. The one thing that makes these miracles more than just coincidences is the "feeling" that comes over you when these occur. Everyone has expressed the same sensation of warmth, peace, and love that flows through you when they happen and the "knowing" that you are experiencing a true miracle. Unfortunately, this feeling cannot be captured on paper, yet it is so strong and so overwhelming that it makes the occurrence believable beyond a doubt. Keep that in mind when reading these because that feeling happened to each person for every one of these instances ... and as we heard three times from different sources within the first two days of his passing ...

"Remember ... there are no coincidences!"

This evening we were downstairs with the kids looking at our gameroom remodeling.  As we were talking, we had mentioned how much Bryan would have loved it as he loved to play pool down there with his friends.  One of the brand new ceiling light fixtures nearest to where we were standing started to flicker.  We all just looked at each other and laughed.  I knew Bryan was there with us!  This is a brand new light fixture with a brand new bulb, so I know there was nothing wrong with it.  I just love that he let us know he was there.

Eternal Flame

A few nights later, when Mike and I were down there talking, the light flickered again.  Once more, I felt Bryan's presence.  I'm down there frequently and this light never does this.  When my contractor stopped over, I asked him if it ever flickers while he's working (and he's been down there for hours and hours).  He said no, it had not.  So I knew it was Bryan.  I often wish he could see the changes in our house since his passing but when something like this happens, I realize that he can see them, just not the same way we can.

Remember back in April when Amberly had met with a doctor named Brian and we had seen a license plate with the name BRYAN on it right outside that same day?  Well, that same doctor did the surgery for her today and we are optimistic that it has solved her problem.  Yesterday evening, Amberly had seen a ladybug in her bathroom on the toilet seat lid and took it as a sign from Bryan.   Then this morning it was back again in the same place!  She has never seen a ladybug in her house before and when Bryan was alive, they used to talk about ladybugs being good luck signs.  So she felt a lot better going into the surgery knowing Bryan was with her.

Our game room is finally finished!  I began hanging pictures down there as that is our theme ... all kinds of sports pictures in the special picture frame spaces allocated for them.  I had one space without a picture right next to the three Pirates baseball pictures that I needed a picture for.   Then I remembered that there was a picture Bryan had sketched of  a Pirates baseball nodder (see entry on February 14, 2004) that was hanging in his room, so I went and got it to see if it would fit the spot.  Well, it fit perfectly!  I had no sooner hung it than the light began to flicker and then went out completely.  It just made me smile as I knew it was him letting me know he was happy with my placement of his artwork.

Eternal Flame

A few hours later, Ed stopped by to help me with hanging some of the final pictures and sports pennants (he's good aesthetically!).  I pointed out Bryan's picture and asked if he'd noticed it ... we were hanging pennants right beneath the light Bryan has been flickering.  Sure enough, the light started to flicker again and went out!  I laughed and teasingly said out loud, "Bryan, we need the light to be able to see!  Turn it back on please!" and the light turned back on.  Keep in mind that these lights are all brand new and there are about 10 of them in the ceiling down there and this is the ONLY one that does this.  Always the same one and it doesn't do it all the time ... only when we feel he's there.

Note:  If you have a story or experience with Bryan, please email it to me and I will add it to his journal.  These incidents have given our family great peace and joy in knowing that Bryan is still with us, if only in spirit, and will live forever in our hearts.
