In Loving Memory of Bryan Raymond Burch

Bryan’s Journal of Miracles
As told by his mom …

Eternal Flame Bryan R. Burch Eternal Flame

March 17, 1980 - January 9, 2004

This page is to document the many "signs" and "visits" that Bryan has made to us since his passing ... miracles to those of us who have received them. The one thing that makes these miracles more than just coincidences is the "feeling" that comes over you when these occur. Everyone has expressed the same sensation of warmth, peace, and love that flows through you when they happen and the "knowing" that you are experiencing a true miracle. Unfortunately, this feeling cannot be captured on paper, yet it is so strong and so overwhelming that it makes the occurrence believable beyond a doubt. Keep that in mind when reading these because that feeling happened to each person for every one of these instances ... and as we heard three times from different sources within the first two days of his passing ...

"Remember ... there are no coincidences!"

Today we were getting ready for a party that we are having tonight for my father and sister's birthdays and also to break in our new pool room (billiards) that we just finished remodeling this week.  When I woke up this morning, I got down on the floor to play with Ruby and Ginger (our two lab pups) and noticed a butterfly on the windowscreen that I wouldn't have been able to see if I hadn't sat down on the floor in exactly that spot.  It was on the outside of the screen but I felt it was a sign from Bryan.  A few hours later, Mike noticed a butterfly INSIDE the same window on a pair of his shorts that were lying on a clothes rack there.  We gently lifted it and opened the window to release him outside.  So another sign from Bryan!  When I went downstairs to finish getting ready for the party, I walked outside to vacuum the little outdoor rug and then straightened up a few things.  On my way back in, there was a feather lying right on the door jamb where I know it wasn't before.  I know Bryan was just letting us know he is with us BIG TIME today!  He would have loved the new room as he loved playing pool and he would have loved the swimming pool as well.  Anyway, shortly after this I went into the laundry room to change some laundry over and there was a feather on the floor in there!!  Now mind you I had just vacuumed the entire room AND washed the floor, so I know without a doubt there was absolutely no feather in there nor was there a way for one to get in there.  I saved it and put it with the other one I had just found a bit earlier.  But Bryan wasn't finished ...

Eternal Flame

This evening when people started arriving for the party, the light in the game room (which we all now have dubbed "Bryan's Light") started blinking again and going out completely.  It was really crazy!  One person said that it might be because the light was overheating ... NOT!  If that were true -- which we know it isn't -- then why don't they ALL do it?  There are 10 identical lights down there and none of the others do it.  Plus they are on dimmers and I had them turned down pretty low.  Bryan just wanted us to know he was there for the party!  And shortly thereafter, my niece came in from outside with two feathers she found lying alongside the pool ... she knew they were a sign from Bryan so we added them to the collection we now have down there for his feathers.   And all day today there was a butterfly over our front door just resting there and there was a white butterfly on our sliding screen door in the back most of the day as well ...

Today I received the following email from TJ ... Bryan is still with her and sending signs to help her along:

"I bought a car last Friday (finally) and check out all the signs I got from Bryan.  When I started out that morning I was hoping and praying I'd find something decent within my price range.  I had gone to four or five different dealers before I found the car. Once I found the one I wanted, a 2000 Ford Contour, I told the salesman I'd be back later for a test drive.  When I pulled out of that lot a big brown butterfly flew over my window.  I smiled and said hi to Bryan when I saw it.  I came back later that day with Amber (TJ's friend) and after we had driven it and checked everything out we were sitting in the office and I was filling out paperwork.  The salesman walked past the table we were at and he saw something on the floor and said, "Is somebody shedding in here?" When he bent over to pick it up it was a feather!  He didn't throw it in the garbage or toss it outside, he gave it to me.  I was like OMG!  You should've seen how far Amber's jaw dropped when she saw what it was. I had already told her about the butterfly so it was cool that she was there when the feather came about.  That wasn't even the last sign. After I was done with all the paperwork I checked to see what time it was because I was starving.  Of course it was 3:17! I was like wow! - I have no doubt that I made the right decision getting that particular car on that particular lot.  Just wanted to let you know all this. He also came to hang with me for a while last night.  I told him all about the car and thanked him for the signs. It was awesome. Take care!  - TJ "

This morning, my brother-in-law Mike got a very strong sign from Bryan.  He had gone online to check emails for an online business that he does and the first email was from a Michael Bryan Burch.  He immediately thought of Bryan and connected it to him.

Today Mike and I decided to take a road trip to check out Cris & Kristen's wedding site.  It's about a four hour trip, so we packed the doggies into the car for their first travel experience and it was a hoot!  That aside, Bryan let us know he was along with us in a myriad of ways beginning with the biggest  flock of hawks I had ever seen ... at least 20 or 30 of them all circling together over the turnpike.  I have no idea if it was one family or what ... I don't know much about hawks but I've only seen another large group like this once before when traveling (mentioned somewhere in this journal but I don't recall where/when).  Anyway, shortly after that we were passed on the left by a deep blue colored van with TWO bright blue metallic butterly appliques on the back right window ... right where we couldn't miss them!  Mike pointed them out to me at the same time that I noticed them and we both felt it was a pretty strong sign.  Then at the next rest stop, I was walking into the building and noticed two people standing to the side reading the historical marker sign that told about the building and it's history in relation to the turnpike.  Right when I got to them, they literally stepped right in front of me and headed into the building.  Walking directly behind them, I noticed there was a large picture on the back of the girl's shorts right above her derriere ... and when I looked closer, it was a big blue butterfly!  That was the only design on her shorts and what an odd place for it to be but because of its location and the fact that they literally stepped right in front of me, I really couldn't miss it.  Coincidence?  I think not!  But it gets better ....

After we had checked out all the different restaurants where we were considering hosting the rehearsal dinner, we realized we were in close enough proximity to the Silk City Diner in Denver, Pa., to stop for dinner.  The Silk City Diner goes back a long ways with us ... back to 1990 to be exact as we would always stop off there to eat on the way to Atlantic City when I did the antique shows there.  The food is good old-fashioned comfort food all homemade in astronomical portions.  It also has significance for us because when we drove Bryan to Delaware to stay with his sister when we first learned about his addiction -- the trip where he kept replaying the song "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" in my car -- we had stopped here for dinner and Bryan absolutely loved the food and atmosphere.  Well, when we walked in today to have dinner, we no sooner sat down then guess what song started playing ... you guessed it!  ... "The Lion Sleeps Tonight"!  Mike noticed it even before I did and pointed it out to me.  We both sat there in disbelief as the song played from start to finish.  I actually got tears in my eyes because I felt Bryan was letting us know he was still there enjoying the Silk City meal with us ... especially since I ordered the same thing he had gotten the night he was there.  The moment was bittersweet but I am, once again, so grateful that he is able to reach us this way.

Tonight I was driving home from work and I was talking on my cell phone to Amberly.  We were talking about Bryan and I came up to a 3-way stop.  It was rush hour, so all 3 stops had cars.  The guy in the car in front of me reached out and motioned the car at the left stop sign to go ahead.  At that moment I happened to catch his face in his side view mirror and my heart did a flip flop.  He was looking directly at me in his mirror and IT WAS BRYAN'S FACE!  I could see his eyes, nose, and the white baseball cap he had on his head which was turned backwards like Bryan always wore it.  His eyes met mine for several seconds and I was totally shocked ... this guy didn't just resemble Bryan, he WAS Bryan!  I told Amberly I had to get off the phone as I wanted to try to catch up to him to get a better look.  I drove a bit out of my way trying to catch up to his car, but I never could.  I lost him at a red light and had to turn around.  There's no doubt in my mind that had I actually caught up to him, I would have seen a resemblance but it wouldn't have been Bryan's exact face.  I know this because I know spirits can do "psychic overlays" where they can superimpose their features onto someone else for a brief moment to appear to you.  I've had a few of these occur before over the years, but never this clearly and certainly never when the person looked directly at me while it was occurring!  It really blew me away.  It was by far the most powerful type of vision of this sort I have had to date.  Amazing!

Amberly was telling me about a very powerful sign she got from Bryan last night.  She was on the computer in the middle of the night playing games because she was having trouble sleeping.  Right in the middle of a game, a log-in screen popped up for the program she was already on and the name in the login window was "bryanrb317"!!!!!  And when she looked at the time it was 3:17 a.m.!  She says she ran to get her camera and took a picture of the screen as proof because she couldn't believe her eyes.  There was absolutely no reason in the world for that window to pop up, Bryan's name is not on her computer (it's a new one) and she was already logged on anyway.  And 3:17 a.m.!  What a great sign for her to get from her brother!

Today Bryan did an amazing thing!  Cris and Kristen had just stopped at our house to pick up Stella (their pooch) who we babysat this weekend.  As they were leaving, I mentioned to Mike that I would like to stop down to see Bryan -- I like to visit his grave every Sunday.  Kristen asked Cris if he would like to go with us and he agreed that they would, so they followed us to the church.  As soon as we arrived there, Mike and I noticed a hawk up on the steeple.  The first year that Bryan passed, the hawks were almost always on the steeple -- morning, noon and night they would be there.  But it's been a while since I'd seen one there so I was surprised to see it.  When Cris and Kristen got out of the car behind us, they were already looking up at the hawk and pointing it out to us.  We all thought it was pretty cool ... but that wasn't the best part.  We all went down to the courtyard and visited Bryan and as we were there, we looked up at the hawk.  Just as we looked up at it, it shook it's feathers and a small white fluffy feather released itself and began to float downward toward us.  We all wondered if the feather would come down to the courtyard but as we watched, it floated overhead and started over the roofline.  It was still pretty high up and it was hard to see it with the sun and the clouds.  Cris wanted to get it so he took off up the steps and headed around the other side of the church to try to catch it as it came down.  He was no sooner out of sight than the feather caught a current and started moving quickly away from the church.  Kristen was afraid Cris wouldn't see it or know where to look for it, so she took off after him.   Mike and I went up to the cars and were waiting for them to come back.  I truly didn't think Cris would even have a chance of finding it as it was completely out of our sight line and a tiny feather is very hard to see against the huge blue sky and clouds.  But I needn't have worried ... within a few seconds, Cris and Kristen came walking around the building and Cris had the little fluffy feather in his hand.   He said that when he first went around the building, he was looking up and all around and couldn't see a thing.  Then as Kristen came around the building, the feather suddenly appeared right in front of Cris!  She watched as he just reached up and plucked it from the air right in front of him!  How amazing is that?!?  He didn't even see it until it was right above him.  But this still isn't the end ... we all left and drove home, they to their house and us to ours.  Moments later my cell phone rang and it was Cris.  He wanted to tell me that Bryan had confirmed that the feather was from him.  As they were driving home, he and Kristen were talking about Bryan and the feather and all of a sudden Kristen noticed the song playing on the radio ... they turned it up to hear the last bars of "Behind Blue Eyes"!!!   Now ... SERIOUSLY! ... how can you POSSIBLY doubt something like that?  I know it meant an awful lot to Bryan that Cris and Kristen came to visit him today and he let them know in the best way he could ;-)

We continue to receive emails about the signs TJ receives from Bryan.  Today I received the following message from her:

"Hey Kat!  Wow Bryan's here now and it's amazing!  A coworker stopped by to bring us chili and I brought a bowl of it up here to the lounge to eat and watch TV.  When I sat down I pulled my 2-way radio out of my pocket (which had been there for the last 30 minutes or so).  The time was 3:17, but this time I knew it wasn't just a "hi" from Bryan.  He was here - sitting right next to me.  I got all teary-eyed and told him that it felt so good to be with him again.  I had the TV on Food Network and he said "Turn it to VH1". There was a video on there that I had never seen before but I knew some type of message from him was in it. I thought that the message would be in the title of the song which they show at the end of the video so I wasn't paying attention to what the guy was singing, plus I was eating and couldn't hear much over my own chewing.  Then he says, "Stop chewing"... lol... so I put my chili down so I could hear.  The last line the guy sang and the only ones that I even heard were .... "Even if you cannot hear my voice, I'll be right beside you dear."  Isn't that amazing?!  He totally confirmed for me that he was actually here. I had been missing him a lot lately because he hasn't been around and look what he did for me tonight!   Awesome!!  God bless-TJ"

Tonight Ginger woke me in the middle of the night to be let outside.  As I was waiting for her to come back to be let in, I noticed the clock in the kitchen ... the time was 3:17 a.m.  I smiled and said a little hi to Bryan.  A minute or two later, Ginger came back and we went back upstairs to bed.  But before I climbed under the covers, something made me look at the bedside clock.  It was 3:17 again!  How crazy is that?  Even though it was several minutes later, the clocks are "off" just enough that both of them read 3:17!  I knew it was Bryan's way of saying hi to me in the middle of the night.

September 28, 2007

Today was Mike's mother's birthday who passed away in 1997.  I had forgotten about it until I was at work and wrote a receipt for a customer.  When I filled in the date, I realized it was her birthday so I said aloud "Happy birthday Mom!" (fortunately the customer was still shopping or he would have thought I was nuts!).  Within a minute, the light right above our counter started to flicker.  It flickered three or four times and then stopped.  I really thought this was amazing as that  light fixture never does that.  I think it's pretty cool and I believe that Bryan helps those over there to do that.

September 29, 2007

Today is Mike's birthday.  This morning as he was sitting on his chair in the computer room, the light in the hallway right outside the door went out.  I noticed it right away and pointed it out to him ... it was Bryan's way of saying Happy Birthday to him!

Note:  If you have a story or experience with Bryan, please email it to me and I will add it to his journal.  These incidents have given our family great peace and joy in knowing that Bryan is still with us, if only in spirit, and will live forever in our hearts.
