In Loving Memory of Bryan Raymond Burch

Bryan’s Journal of Miracles
As told by his mom …

Eternal Flame Bryan R. Burch Eternal Flame

March 17, 1980 - January 9, 2004

This page is to document the many "signs" and "visits" that Bryan has made to us since his passing ... miracles to those of us who have received them. The one thing that makes these miracles more than just coincidences is the "feeling" that comes over you when these occur. Everyone has expressed the same sensation of warmth, peace, and love that flows through you when they happen and the "knowing" that you are experiencing a true miracle. Unfortunately, this feeling cannot be captured on paper, yet it is so strong and so overwhelming that it makes the occurrence believable beyond a doubt. Keep that in mind when reading these because that feeling happened to each person for every one of these instances ... and as we heard three times from different sources within the first two days of his passing ...

"Remember ... there are no coincidences!"

Today Mike and I had to go downtown for a doctor's appointment and on the way back we decided to take another look at the Prius (we had looked at these a few months ago as we were considering one when Mike's lease is up in January).  Anyway, last time we were there we had seen a blue one that we liked.  This time they did not have the blue in stock for us to look at but had a light green and a tan color.  We liked both of these but wanted to see the blue.  We ended up leaving without deciding anything but as I got into the car to leave the dealership, as soon as I turned on the radio, the "Lion Sleeps Tonight" started playing.  I told Mike that I think Bryan's telling us to buy the Prius!  But that wasn't the end ...

Eternal Flame

Before dinner, Mike and I decided to take the dogs for a walk.  While on our walk, we saw a blue Prius -- the color we had liked before -- parked on the street along our walk.  We looked it over pretty closely ... it was the same color interior as we liked as well -- and decided that we liked the green color better.  So ... not exactly a sign from Bryan ... but wait! ... there's more ...

Later as we were watching TV, we were watching that new show "Reaper" ... in the show, the father gives the son a brand new light GREEN Prius!  I just started laughing and said I guess Bryan's letting us know that the green is the color we should get.  And of course ... with his St. Patty's day birthday, what else would it be??  LOL

This afternoon I was at Office Depot doing some shopping in the computer department.  Just as I was getting ready to leave, I remembered that I needed to get prices on shipping boxes so I asked a lady at the counter if they sold boxes.  She directed me to a far corner of the store, so I headed over there.  When I got to the section I wanted, they had metal shelves to the ceiling stacked with flat boxes of all sizes.  Right in front of me on top of a stack of boxes was a small pink cellophane wrapped package.  It really stood out as there was nothing like it anywhere in the area ... someone had apparently left it there.  As I got closer, I saw that it was a little silver charm on a chain and the charm was a blue jeweled butterfly!!  I immediately knew it was from Bryan ... my birthday is a few weeks away and I almost heard him say "Happy Birthday Mom".  Needless to say, I dropped it into my shopping cart.  When I went to check out, I asked the fellow at the cash register if they had any more of them as I didn't see anything like them in the store.  I wanted to get a few more for gifts.  He told me that they did and he went off to get them -- in the total OPPOSITE direction of the corner where the boxes were!  Minutes later he came back with a blue flower charm ... he said they didn't have any more butterfly charms in the store.  Naturally, I thanked him but explained that I was only interested in blue butterflies.  This was doubly neat because a jeweled butterfly charm that I have hanging on my purse broke recently and I wanted to find a replacement.  This would work but I'd be worried that it would break as it is a little more fragile than the other one I had.  So I hung it in my car on the mirror right next to a little glass swan Bryan had bought for me several years ago.  It still amazes me when something like this happens.  I smiled all day just thinking about it!

This evening I was sitting at my kitchen table relaxing and doing some crossword puzzles while dinner was cooking.   Suddenly the chandelier dimmed and then blinked off and back on.  I knew it was Bryan and started "talking" to him in my head.  The light would blink in response to my comments to him ... it was really pretty amazing.  I totally felt his presence there and felt that he could hear my thoughts very clearly.  I smiled and thanked him and the Lord for giving him the power to be able to reach out to us this way.  I've felt him around a lot these past couple of days and I think it's because of my birthday coming up.  Anyway, when we were finished with our visit, the light never blinked again all evening!  So I know it was really him.   We've never done anything to this chandelier (such as repairs or rewiring or anything) and it only does this on rare occasions, so there really is no other explanation.  In our hearts we know what it is!

Today was my birthday and Bryan made his presence known!  Amberly and I were downstairs working on a huge gift basket order that we received from a corporation.  Almost immediately when we got downstairs, the light we refer to as "Bryan's light" -- because he always flickers it -- started blinking on and off like mad.  We both acknowledged his presence and really felt that he was there in the room.  We had a cd playing that was recorded by one of Bryan's friends shortly after he passed away with songs that reminded her of Bryan.  Several times songs would just repeat and keep playing even though there is no such setting on the cd player!  And later on, we noticed that the picture we have hanging on the wall that was actually a pencil sketch Bryan had made was hanging completely askew.  None of us moved it so we figured it had to be him.  And after about the first 45 minutes, the light stopped blinking and never blinked again for the remaining 3 hours we were down there.  Pretty neat!

Note:  If you have a story or experience with Bryan, please email it to me and I will add it to his journal.  These incidents have given our family great peace and joy in knowing that Bryan is still with us, if only in spirit, and will live forever in our hearts.
