In Loving Memory of Bryan Raymond Burch

Bryan’s Journal of Miracles
As told by his mom …

Eternal Flame Bryan R. Burch Eternal Flame

March 17, 1980 - January 9, 2004

This page is to document the many "signs" and "visits" that Bryan has made to us since his passing ... miracles to those of us who have received them. The one thing that makes these miracles more than just coincidences is the "feeling" that comes over you when these occur. Everyone has expressed the same sensation of warmth, peace, and love that flows through you when they happen and the "knowing" that you are experiencing a true miracle. Unfortunately, this feeling cannot be captured on paper, yet it is so strong and so overwhelming that it makes the occurrence believable beyond a doubt. Keep that in mind when reading these because that feeling happened to each person for every one of these instances ... and as we heard three times from different sources within the first two days of his passing ...

"Remember ... there are no coincidences!"

Today Amberly and I had set aside the whole day to visit with different wedding reception venues.  Our first stop was the Omni William Penn Hotel.  The room we had initially gone there to see was called the Urban Room.  Upon seeing it, however, we were disappointed as the room is two stories high and all black glass.  I knew we would not want that room as it was just too "dark" and not at all what we envisioned.  So I asked Christine (the gal in charge of weddings at the Omni -- and in an aside, almost everywhere we have gone, our "point" person has been either Chris, Christine, or Christie!) ... anyway, I asked Christine if there were any other "pretty rooms" available.  She told us the Grand Ballroom was available that day.  Well, I hadn't even considered THAT room as it is HUGE and extremely opulent and way over our budget!  When I expressed those concerns, she said that because the room wasn't rented THAT DAY, the price would be the same as the Urban Room!  Ironically, the room is booked every day in 2007 except for March 17th and two days in January!  We have been told from others that there is a 2-year waiting list to get that room yet, because it was available, we could have it!!!  Go Bryan!!!  And included was a luxury suite for them for that night -- however, there were only 5 in the hotel and it was dependent on availability.  We needn't have worried ... there was only ONE available and it was available that night only.  All of the luxury suites were booked the day before and the day after!  Again, we felt Bryan had his hand in it in a major way!  After talking to Christine for over an hour about all the details, we only went to one other place just to feel like we had at least considered others.  But there was no contest.  The Grand Ballroom -- which, by the way, was on the 17TH FLOOR!! -- was hands down the most fantastic place we could ever find.  AND, in addition to that, it was less than two blocks from the church!   And another amazing thing ... the wedding cake, which was included in the package price of the room, was from Bethel Bakery, the bakery of our choice anyway!

Tonight Amberly, Brendan, Mike and I went to Bethel Bakery to sample their wedding cakes and to make a decision about which flavor(s) we wanted.  Christie (yes, there were TWO Chris's in the Bethel Bakery wedding cake department) brought out several long slices of cakes of different batter and filling combinations.  We began eliminating them and settled first on one flavor that we decided we would want.  Then the very last cake to sample was a deep red color ... milk chocolate flavor with a white chocolate mousse filling.  Brendan immediately said we had to have that one and we all agreed it was absolutely delicious.  Christie said it was called Red Velvet.  I immediately remembered Kat Tucci's reading and Bryan saying there would be something red at the wedding.  I nudged Amberly and said, "there's the something red Bryan mentioned!"  At the exact moment I said that, the single light that was hanging directly over the cake table went out!  All the other lights in the bakery were on, but the cake table was dark.   Christie made a comment about how the heck did that happen, tapped the light a few times and then went back to turn it back on.  We just all laughed .. we KNEW it was Bryan confirming that YEP!, that was the something red he told us about.  So the bottom tier of the cake will be RED VELVET!

Amberly and Brendan drove to Florida for Christmas.  She called to tell me that at every change of highway, there would be a hawk circling overhead.  That reminded me of a few years ago when I noticed the same thing occurring when Mike and I would travel.  It was almost as if Bryan were letting us know he was with us at every leg of the journey.  She also said that during one part of the trip, she and Brendan were talking about Bryan and there were white butterflies everywhere for miles and miles.  When they were no longer talking about him, the butterflies disappeared!

MORE AMAZING THINGS:  All of the vendors we have contacted for our event have been available THAT DAY!  Most of them are booked solid for weeks before and after the 17th, but so far, every one has been available.  Isn't that amazing??  We sure think so!

Note:  If you have a story or experience with Bryan, please email it to me and I will add it to his journal.  These incidents have given our family great peace and joy in knowing that Bryan is still with us, if only in spirit, and will live forever in our hearts.
